Internet Banking in New Zealand

Internet Banking in NZ / Internet Banking in New Zealand

These days, most financial institutions in New Zealand provide an Internet Banking portal for their customers. Internet Banking or Online Banking as it is also referred to, involves logging in with your personal user name and password to a secure website and conducting your banking online. Internet Banking has minimised the number of personal contacts needed to perform a transaction or solve a problem. It is no longer necessary to physically visit the location of your branch for everything - even though at NZCU South it is always good to see you!

We understand the need of our customers to be able to do their banking at a time which is convenient to them. Our Internet Banking portal provides 24 Hour access to a range of services. You can check your account balances, transfer funds, pay accounts, or order a chequebook, to name but a few. You can also apply online for loans or request information.

Here are some tips on how to make your Internet Banking experience secure and hassle-free.

·                     Never respond to emails requesting personal Internet Banking details such as PINs or Passwords – legitimate financial institutions will never ask for this type of information.

·                     Delete suspicious emails with attachments and do not open the attachments.

·                     Check for a secure connection. (Secure website addresses such as the NZCU South Internet Banking page, have "https" at the start. The ‘s’ indicates that the page is secure. There should also be a padlock icon in the bottom right hand corner of your screen.

·                     When navigating to our Internet Banking login page, make sure that you are actually on the real page, by checking the URL (http://www.....) in the top address bar of your browser.

Computer Security when using Internet Banking:

·                     Make sure that you have a personal firewall in place on your computer before accessing Internet Banking.

·                     Do not access your Internet Banking from computers in public places like Internet Cafes.

·                     Never leave your computer unattended when logged in to Internet Banking.

·                     Try not to use the same password for your Internet Banking as you do for your Telephone Banking.

We want to protect you and ourselves from fraudulent Internet Banking transactions. Remember to check your statements regularly and report any suspicious transactions to us immediately. We are always ready to assist.
